Charles T. Wheeler

Charles T. Wheeler, 94, of Belvidere died peacefully on November 20, 2025 in his home. He was born on August 27, 1931 in Belvidere to Albert & Lucinda (Thompson) Wheeler.  Charles served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He retired from Barber Coleman after 50 years of working as an industrial engineer.  Charles married Edith M. Lamont on August 20, 1955 in Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford, IL.

Charles was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Belvidere where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He also was a member of Belvidere VFW 1461, Coon Creek Casters, & Belvidere Moose Club.  Charles was very involved with his daughters’ activities as well as being an avid Belvidere Bucs fan.  He loved sports, especially the Cubs and the Bears. Charles was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish.

He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Larry) Schultz, Sandra Winne, Karen (Steven) Sweet, Kathleen (John) Olson; grandchildren, Brent (Jen) Wilson, Eric (Lori) Wilson, Leslie Musil, Rachel (Michael) Condon, Sarah (Shawn) Houston, Michael (Loren) Winne, Jared Sweet, Jordan (Megan) Sweet, Justin (Jesi Mattox) Sweet, Stephanie (Garrett Brown) Sweet, Ashley Olson, Drew (Briana) Olson; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Carol (Virgil) Hale; brother, Russell (Dale) Wheeler; sisters-in-law, Judith Zoellick, Gyneth Lamont & Janice Lamont; brother-in-law, Richard Swenson; several nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edith in 2024; his sister, Beverly (Bob) Ohm; great-granddaughter, Megan Schultz. 

There will be a visitation Tuesday, December 2, 2025 from 10am-Noon in the Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Belvidere, IL.  A Funeral service will begin at 12:00PM with Pastor Bob Kopp officiating.  Interment in Belvidere Cemetery with military honors in Belvidere, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.  Condolences can be shared with the family at Belviderefh.com
