Charlie "Joe" Joseph Davis

Charlie “Joe” Davis, 80, of Belvidere, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28th 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on May 19th, 1945 in Russel County Virginia to Jimmie and Bessie Davis. He eventually moved to Illinois and there he met the love of his life, Gloria Ann Wiedow. The two wed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, right here in Belvidere on January 28th, 1978. Joe spent most of his life working in the construction business and built bridges for Belvidere Construction. In 2004 he retired after twenty years of service. This gave him more time to focus on his true passions – hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed attending his bountiful garden where he grew enough food to feed a small town with plenty left over for canning. Joe was known to pass the time with many collections over the years, but his most recent efforts were collecting coins to share with his grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his children Brian Davis, Eddie (Michelle) Davis, Elizabeth (Alberto) Alvarez and Tonya (Ian) Clark; his grandchildren Tesla, Alexander, Skylar, Tia, Sierra, Karly, Helena, Rylee, Payton and Keanu; brother Bob (Faye) Davis; sisters Lois (Fred) Meade, Shirley Davis, Nelda Ray; sister-in-law Betty Davis and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Joe also enjoyed collecting family members and is survived by many honorary grandchildren. He will be missed by his faithful dog, Cooper.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Jimmie and Bessie; his beloved wife Gloria Ann; brothers John, Howard and Fred; brothers-in-law Bill Davis and Otis Ray.

There will be a visitation Monday Aug, 4th 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at Belvidere Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Belvidere, IL. The service will directly follow the visitation at 4:00 pm. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.belviderefh.com
