Edith Wheeler Obituary

Edith Mae Wheeler, 88, of Belvidere, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, October 22, 2024. She was born November 18, 1935, in Rockford, IL. The daughter of Robert E. and Ina (Lindquist) Lamont. She graduated from Rochelle High School. Edith married the love of her life, Charles T. Wheeler August 20, 1955, at Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford, IL. She retired from Sundstrand in Rockford as an Executive Secretary. Edith was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Belvidere, as well as an Elder. She was a member of the Presbyterian Lady’s Circle, Beta Sigma Phi, Home Extension, Red Hats. She loved to read and enjoyed sewing, traveling and camping. Most of all she loved her family and would do anything for them. She is loved and will be missed by her beloved husband of 69 years, Charles T. Wheeler, daughters, Susan (Larry) Schultz, Sandra Winne, Karen (Steven) Sweet, Kathleen (John) Olson; grandchildren, Brent (Jen) Wilson, Eric (Lori) Wilson, Leslie Musil, Rachel (Michael) Condon, Sarah (Shawn) Houston, Michael (Loren) Winne, Jared (Monica) Sweet, Jordan (Megan) Sweet, Justin Sweet, Stephanie Sweet, Ashly Olson, Drew (Briana) Olson; 24 great-grandchildren; sister, Judith Zoellick; sisters-in-law, Janice Lamont, Gyneth Lamont; beloved cat, Sophia. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James Lamont, Boyd Lamont, Delbert Lamont, Robert Lamont; sisters, Jean Streed, Janet Swenson; great-granddaughter, Megan Schultz. There will be a visitation Friday, November 1, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Belvidere, IL. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 P.M. Interment in Belvidere Cemetery in Belvidere, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Condolences can be shared with the family at www.belviderefh.com.
