Edward A. O’Brien, 84, of Windermere, FL, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021, after battling congestive heart failure. Ed was the fifth child of the late Richard and Nettie (Kirgan) O’Brien and was born in Xenia, Illinois on Monday, June 7, 1937. He married the love of his life, Kathy Wire on Friday, June 11, 1971. Ed’s two passions in life were reading and traveling. He and his wife of 50 years, traveled to many places around the world and had many adventures together. He worked many interesting jobs and moved to Florida after retiring from Chrysler where he worked for over 42 years. Ed is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Peggy (Dwayne) Crooker; brothers, Bill (Val) O’Brien, Roy (Dottie) O’Brien; sisters, Maxine Jacobs and Chelsea (Bill) Casolari, grandchildren, Ashley, Brenden, Dwayne II, Samantha; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Nettie; brothers, Richard O’Brien, Joe O’Brien, Ray O’Brien; sister, Lorene Fatheree. There will be a funeral service on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service at 203 Logan Avenue, Belvidere, IL beginning at 1:00 P.M. A visitation will take place from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. The service will be recorded and posted on Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service’s Facebook page. Interment will be private at Orth Road Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to your favorite charity in Ed’s name.
