Edward William Smith

Edward William Smith, 85, of Cherry Valley, IL passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Northwoods Care Centre. Son of the late Edward William and Achsah J. (Hettrick) Smith he was born on Monday, July 10, 1933 in Belvidere, IL. Edward married the love of his life, Hazel Wilson on Saturday, January 5, 1957 in Irene, IL. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Edward is loved and will be missed by his sons, Eddie (Star) Smith, Doug Smith; daughters, Nancy Johnson, Pattie (David) Finley, Sally (Roger) Rosser; grandchildren, Trevor, John, Suzanne, Andrew, Riley, Dylan, Dori, Chris, Missy; great grandchildren, Milak, Mahaila, Tyler; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Hazel; daughter, Lori Heffel; son in law, Brian Johnson; 9 siblings. There will be a visitation on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M at Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Rev. William Wentink officiating. Interment in Flora Cemetery in Kirkland, IL. A memorial fund has been established in the family’s name.
