Francis Bindl, 83, of Belvidere, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. He was born on May 25, 1942, in Spring Green, the son of Mathilda (Reisinger) and Francis Bindl. Francis graduated from Spring Green High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army.
On July 19, 1969, Francis married the love of his life, Irene Wagner, in Middleton, WI. He worked for more than 30 years at Chrysler in Belvidere before retiring.
After retirement, Francis enjoyed rebuilding John Deere tractors and repairing small engines. A faithful member of St. James Catholic Church, Francis lived his life with strong faith and devotion to family. In his free time, he loved fishing, especially the many trips to Canada with his brothers and close friends. He and Irene also enjoyed traveling to Arizona and taking many cruises together. He especially enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
Francis cherished his summers at Holiday Shores, where he enjoyed playing bags and cards, taking walks and golf cart rides through the park, boating on the Wisconsin River, and sharing countless conversations and memories with friends and family.
Francis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 57 years, Irene; his son, Scott (Nikki) Bindl; and his cherished grandchildren, Ashley and Austin Bindl. He is also survived by his brothers, Jerry (Judy) Bindl, Joe (Bonnie) Bindl, Dan (Brenda) Bindl, and Paul Bindl; along with many nieces and nephews: Bill (Jody) Bindl, Audrey (Jason) Paukner, Nick (Shasta) Bindl, Justin Bindl, Cody Bindl, Theresa (Aaron) Johnson, Jonathan (Stephanie) Bindl, Michelle (Ryan) MacDonald, and Matthew (Courtney) Bindl.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathilda and Francis Bindl, and his sisters, Virginia and Mary.
Francis will be remembered for his kindness, faith, hard work, and love for his family and friends. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
There will be a visitation from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Belvidere, IL. A funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere, IL. Interment in Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere, IL.
