Fred Smith

Fred Wayne Smith, 80, of Belvidere, IL, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at his home. He was born on July 2, 1941, in Hampshire, IL to the late Arthur and Edith (Tegtman) Smith. Fred married the love of his life, Shirley Gibbs, on June 9, 1962, at Zion Lutheran Church in Belvidere, IL. He was a 27 year kidney transplant recipient. Fred is loved and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Shirley; daughter, Christine (Anthony) Kleeman; granddaughter, Cayla Kleeman; brothers, Robert Smith, Marvin (Jane) Smith, Marlow (Cheri) Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edith; children, Michael Smith, Susan Smith; brother, Martin Smith; sister in law, Jane Oscarson. There will be a funeral service on Monday, February 21, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Belvidere, IL beginning at 11:00 A.M. A visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will be held at Belvidere Cemetery in Belvidere, IL. A memorial fund has been established in the family’s name.
