Hazel Wesson Obituary

Hazel Mae Wesson,101,of Belvidere passed away Friday May 10,2013 at
Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center,Rockford. She was born June 18,1911
in Spring Twp. Boone County,Il. the daughter of Harry and Gertrude(Baker)
Vowles. She graduated from Belvidere High School and from Northern Illinois University with a bachelors degree in education. She married E. Eugene Wesson
June 23,1934 in Belvidere.

Hazel was a retired elementary school teacher. She taught in 1 room school houses in Boone County during the 1930's,she resumed teaching in the 1950's at Lincoln
School in Freeport,Il. A member of First Presbyterian Church,Belvidere and the Ladies Circle at church. Also a member of the Eastern Star,Retired Teachers Association of Boone County, and the Retired Teachers Association of Freeport. She was active in the community and volunteered for many organizations including Highland Hospital Pink Ladies,The Keenage Center,Belvidere Y.M.C.A. and served as an Election Judge for many years.

She is survived by her daughters,JoAnn(James)Thomas,Peoria,Patricia(William A.)Moren,Port Washington,Wi.,Kay Amanda Wesson,Chicago. Grandchildren,
Amanda Thomas,Joshua Thomas,Martha(Matthew)Fleckenstein,Emily(Joseph)
Higgins. Great Grandchildren,Rylee & Grace Higgins,Wilson,Eleanor,Mabel,
Julia & Luisa Fleckenstein. Many Nieces and Nephews. Sisters in law,Marjorie Wire,Virginia Vowles,EdnaWesson,Peg Vowles. Preceded in death by her parents,husband Gene November 17,1994,1 sister,6 brothers.

Funeral Service Wednesday May 15,2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Belvidere Funeral Home
with Rev. Dr. Robert R. Kopp,pastor of First Presbyterian Church officiating.
Visitation Wednesday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
Interment Victor Township Cemetery in DeKalb County. In lieu of flowers memorials to Ida Public Library or the Belvidere Y.M.C.A.
