Jacob John Mari Sr., 86, of Stillman Valley, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, at his son, Paul’s residence, Monday, November 22, 2021. He was born Thursday, December 13, 1934, in Sterling, Colorado. Jacob was the seventh of eight siblings, born to John Lawrence and Eva (Artzer) Mari. After attending school, Jacob joined the Airforce during the Korean Conflict. He married the love of his life Mary Lois McAnelly, on February 28, 1953. They were sweethearts since they were 12 and 13 years old. They were blessed to welcome six children, Kathy, Linda, Mary, Jacob II, Paul, and Danny. Jacob was known for his humbleness, sense of humor, love of his family, love of westerns, playing Nintendo with his family, birds, fishing, and nature. Jacob lived a dedicated Christian life. Jacob is loved and will be missed by his sons, Jacob II, Paul (Elke), Danny (Priscilla); sister, Jean Urban; 10 grandchildren, Sarah (Michael) McKay, Michelle Bury, Tanya (Tom) Wurtzel, Kevin (Megan) Mari, Jake (Chelsea) Mari, Kristel (Josh) Wroblewski, Katie Mari, Melissa (Kyle Zenk) Bury, Kassie Mari. Jenny Mari; 14 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, six siblings: Rose E. Mari, Annie Baskall, John L. Mari, Eva Miceli, JoAnn Fulk, Katie Dagenhart; children, Kathy Peters (Vince), Linda McWayne (Duffy), Mary Lynne Morrissey (Glenn); daughter in laws, Kim Mari (Danny), and Bettye Mari (Jacob II), and son in laws, Tim Bury (Mary Lynne) and Glenn Morrissey (Mary Lynne).There will be a visitation on Sunday, November 28, 2021, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Belvidere Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 203 Logan Ave. Belvidere, IL, 61008. There will be a Funeral Service at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 29, 2021, at the Evangel Assembly of God Church, 5700 Bartels Rd., Hanover Park, IL 60133. Visitation from 9:30 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Interment in Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin, IL. Memorials can be made either to St. Jude’s or CBN. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.belviderefh.com.
