Janet Brei

Janet Louise Brei, 78, of Belvidere, IL passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Maple Crest Care Centre in Belvidere, IL. She was born on Monday, June 8, 1942 in Rock Island, IL to the late George and Ruth (Senecal) Williamson. After graduating from Northern Illinois University she began teaching kindergarten in Harvard, IL. She also taught swimming at the Belvidere Y.M.C.A., preschool at Miss Mary’s, and Sunday school at First Presbyterian Church in Belvidere, IL. She loved kids and could make them love her. She loved swimming, fishing, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was a big Packer fan and loved to watch football. Janet is loved and will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Mickey Brei; daughter, Jody (John) Ortgiesen; son, James (Karen) Brei, David Brei; grandchildren, Jake (Jessica) Ortgiesen, Jackie (Jason) Rabe; great grandchildren, Avery and Raelyn Ortgiesen; sister, Joyce (Dave) Hinds; niece, Anne (Todd) Beam. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Maple Crest Care Centre, and Heartland Hospice. There will be a visitation on Friday, July 31, 2020 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at First Presbyterian Church in Belvidere, IL with Rev. Robert R. Kopp officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Garden of Memories. A memorial fund has been established in the family’s name.
