John Blair

John Edward Blair, 69, of Belvidere, IL passed away at home surrounded by family on January 19, 2023. John had a wicked dry sense of humor and generally chose to do things his own way. He is the son of the late Donald R. and Hazel M. (Burch) Decker. He was born on June 27, 1953 in Janesville, WI. John served our country in the United States Air Force for 21 years from 1972 until his retirement in 1993. John married Kathy Lynn Moore on September 11, 1999, in Belvidere, IL. After the military, he went to college for Engineering and worked for Reed Chatwood and Roper Whitney, both of Rockford, IL. John’s favorite things were sitting at his computer and just learning new things, spending time with family and friends, and drinking cold beer! John was a life Member of the VFW Post 1461 and a Post member of the American Legion Boone Post 77. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; son, John Edward Blair III; sisters, Judy Decker, Linda Decker; niece, Shannon Decker; God daughter; Jaylea Decker; niece, Angelia Kirk; great nephew, Christian Kirk; mother-in-law, Carole Moore; beloved dog, Gertie of Belvidere. John is also survived by his Military family, “The Montana Street Gang”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald, and Hazel; brother, Randy A. Blair; Montana Street Gang Member, Bernie Rulle.
