Jon Edward Berry

Jon Edward Berry, 80, of Belvidere, IL, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 9, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born March 15, 1945, in Harvard, IL. The son of Edwin and Frieda (McMillan) Berry. He served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Jon married the love of his life, Janet Cortez on January 15, 1998, in Redwood City, California. He enjoyed golfing, racing cars, and watching the horse races. He also was a Raiders and NASCAR fan. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family. Jon was a devout Catholic and a member of St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere. Jon is loved and will be missed deeply by his beloved wife of 27 years, Janet; children, Jon Berry Jr., Sharmine Berry, Apple (Ramil) Berry-Badillo, Jackson Motos; grandchildren, Mika Ela and Shane; sisters, Pauline (Earl) Genskow, Patricia Johnson; loving dogs, Kaya and Ziggy. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Garry Berry, Jesse Berry, Rollin Berry; sisters, Virginia Berry, Alice Grabbert, Rosalie Recker, Darlene Rathman. There will be a visitation Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Belvidere, IL. There will be a second visitation Friday, November 14, 2025, from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. also at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere, IL. Private inurnment in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
