Kevin M. Cardinet

Kevin M. Cardinet, 67, of Belvidere, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 30th, 2025. He was born in Los Angeles, CA  on December 16th, 1957 to proud parents Albert Dallas and Marylin Michele (McCarthy) Cardinet.  He attended Catholic School in California until high school graduation. He then continued his educational pursuits by taking two years of college courses. Though Kevin's true passion was mechanics. He had worked on diesel engines since the age of sixteen and eventually decided to go to mechanical school. Kevin made his living as a diesel mechanic and worked for most of his career at United Parcel Service. On June 21st 2002, Kevin wed the love of his life, Linda Stardy, at the courthouse here in Belvidere. They spent many wonderful years together enjoying each other's good humor and company. Kevin was a Harley Davidson enthusiast, and his loving wife would even decorate him his own "Harley Tree" at Christmas time. A committed fan of the Chicago Bears, Kevin often spent Sundays cheering them on regardless of how the season was going. He also an aficionado of antique cars. Even though Linda was number one in his heart, a close second was his metallic blue 1967 Chevelle. Kevin is survived by his devoted wife, Linda; his daughter, Angelique Michelle Westfall (Ryan Paul); son, Brandon Stardy; granddaughter McKenna Westfall and Stepmother Sharyl Swink. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul Albert Cardinet. Join Kevin's family and friends for a visitation Monday, September 8th, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Belvidere, IL. A funeral service will begin at noon. Immediately following the service, there will be a procession to Belvidere Cemetery for a graveside committal. Kevin donated money out of every check to a cause he was honored to support; so in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
