Larry Carl Spaete

Lawrence “Larry” Carl Spaete Sr., 84, of Belvidere, IL, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born October 6, 1939, in Washburn Township, WI, the son of Carl and Florence (Strebing) Spaete. He served our country in the United States Army. Larry married the love of his life, Caroline “Carol” Buchholz on May 28,1960, in Neillsville, WI. He retired from Chrysler after working there for more than 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and gardening. Most of all he enjoyed camping, traveling, and just spending time with his family. He is loved and will be missed by his beloved wife, Carol; sons, Lawrence (Elaine) Spaete Jr., James Spaete; daughters, Cheri Sprietler, Debbie (Scott) Jarvis; grandchildren, Jessica (Charles) Smothers, Katelyn Helmold, Hanna Jarvis, Benjamin Helmold, Bailey Jarvis, and Emily Spaete; great-grandchildren, Carly Smothers, Andrew Smothers, and Joshua Smothers; sister, Ruth (Donald) Meihak. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Spaete Sr.; sister, Dorothy Langreck. There will be a visitation, Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere, IL. A service will begin at 11:00 A.M. with the inurnment immediately following at the Belvidere Cemetery in Belvidere, IL. Memorials can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
