Laurita Rottman Obituary

Laurita Therese Rottman, 84, of Rockton, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Symphony Maple Crest Care Center in Belvidere, IL. She was born on November 4, 1937, in Chicago, IL to the late Edward and Alice (Smith) Wynne. She graduated from Amundson High School and later graduated from DePaul University. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Rottman on October 31, 1957, in Chicago, IL. Laurita worked as an elementary school teacher in Skokie, IL until she and her husband Ken decided to start a family and moved to Des Plaines, IL. Though Laurita left teaching full time as their 3 children grew, she continued to work as a substitute teacher in the Des Plaines school system where her children were enrolled as students. Over the years each child was lucky enough to experience the duly horrified feeling of having Mom show up as their substitute teacher for the day. Once Ken retired, they moved to Rockton, IL where they continued to enjoy life together with their family. Laurita enjoyed reading, painting, art, and discovering new adventures. She loved animals and was a friend to many. She is loved and will be deeply missed by her sons, James (Patricia) Rottman, Edward (April) Rottman; daughter, Jennifer (Anthony) Paul; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward, and Alice; beloved husband, Kenneth; grandson, Matthew Paul. There will be a visitation on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Belvidere, IL from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere, IL. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in River Grove, IL. Laurita was very charitably minded. In lieu of flowers if you would like to honor Laurita, please make a memorial donation to a cause that is important to you and your loved ones.
