Margaret L. Kummerow, 98, of Belvidere, IL, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020. She was born September 3, 1921 to Colin and Emma (Lockerbie) Forbes in Chicago, Illinois. Her Mother, Emma was from a family of 12 whose parents had just immigrated from Scotland. They were a very close-knit family that always was together, and that trait was instilled in Margaret. She was always ready to entertain, cook dinners, and be a part of many social gatherings. Margaret married Harvey (Raymond) Kummerow in 1945 and had one child, David (Forbes) Kummerow March 15, 1950. The family lived in Chicago but spent one year living in Edmeston, New York before returning to Chicago. They remained very active in their faith and grew to have hundreds of friends. As she aged, she developed sight illness that resulted in total blindness in the 1950's. That did not stop or even slow her down in accomplishing the household duties and continuing an active social and religious life. Her beloved husband passed in June of 1996 when she continued to live with her son David until her death. She was an inspiration to her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and countless friends. Margaret never let her blindness interfere with her social life or her faith, being an active member of the Belvidere, Illinois Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Margaret gave this world over 98 years of faithfulness and joy. She will be missed by countless family and friends.
