Marjorie Marcus Obituary

Marjorie Bernice Marcus, 87, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2020 at Park Place Nursing Home in Belvidere, IL. Daughter of the late John Leo and Mildred (Clarke) Warren she was born on December 7, 1932 in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. She married the love of her life, Willis Clark Marcus on May 18, 1955. Marjorie was a homemaker and then worked for The Village of Hanover Park for 14 years and went on to own a small cleaning company for many years before retiring in 1992. Marjorie was a member at St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere, IL. She also enjoyed cooking (especially her famous beef stew), knitting, sewing, visiting with her friends in Hanover Park area, but most of all being with her family. Marjorie is loved and will be missed by her loving sons, John Willis Marcus, Frank Marcus; loving daughters, Karen Marie Hand, Kimberly Irene LaMere; grandchildren, Michelle Marie Anderson, Lawrence Peter LaMere, Joshua (Kelli) LaMere, Kimberly Ann (Danny) Martinez, Jessica Hand, Andrew (Sarah) Hand, Geoffrey Hand, Heather Marcus, John Marcus Jr. (JJ), Melanie Marcus, William Marcus; great grandchildren, Adeline LaMere, Isabella Marie LaMere, Madden Alexander LaMere, Hendrix Martinez, Audrey Edith Hand; sisters, Ruth Maranchik; brothers, John Warren, Rueben Warren, David (Mary) Warren, Allen (Mary) Warren; loving partner of 10 years, Henry Kneip. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred; beloved husband, Willis; sisters, Mary Harding, Joan Leah Maddigan; brothers, Fred Warren, Gerry Warren, George Warren; daughter in-law, Deborah Marcus; sisters in-law, Lorraine Warren, Madeline Warren, Cecila Warren, Deanne Warren; brothers in-law, Jack Maranchik, Jerome Maddigan. Due to Covid-19, funeral services will take place at a later date in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. The interment will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Mt. Pearl. A memorial fund has been established in the family’s name to be used for one of Marjorie’s favorite charities.
