Mickey Albert Brei

Mickey Albert Brei, 82, of Belvidere, IL passed away Monday, June 10, 2024, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.  He was born February 2, 1942, in Ottawa, IL to Wilbur and Dorothy (Pile) Brei.  He married the love of his life, Janet Louise Williamson August 31, 1963, in Joliet, IL.  He worked in education for over 30 yrs, and retired as principal from Logan Elementary School in Belvidere, IL.  He also taught at Washington Elementary School and was principal at Manchester Elementary.  He loved fishing and playing cards along with gardening and working on his Koi Pond.  Most of all, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his wife and kids.  He is loved and will be missed by his children, Jody (John) Ortgiesen, James (Karen) Brei, and David Brei; grandchildren, Jake (Jessica) Ortgiesen, Jackie (Jason) Rabe; great-grandchildren, Avery and Raelyn Ortgiesen; sister, Debra Story; sister-in-law, Joyce (Dave) Hinds; niece, Anne (Todd) Beam; beloved friend Shirley McKenzie; and loyal dog Peanut.  He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife, Janet.  There will be a visitation Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Belvidere, IL.  A funeral service will begin at 2:00 P.M. officiated by Rev. Dr. Robert R. Kopp.  There will be a private interment at Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere, IL at a later date.  Condolences can be shared with the family at www.belviderefh.com.
