Richard Ellis Anderson, 73, of Belvidere, IL, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 24, 1950 in Vallejo, California. The son of the late Richard H. and Lola Mae (Kitchell) Anderson. He graduated from Bolsa Grande High School in Garden Grove, California in 1968 and then joined the United States Army where he served our country during the Vietnam War as a MP stationed in Germany for 3 years. He married the love of his life, Joan Louise Zamzow on July 19, 1974 in Huntington Beach, California. He worked at Ford Tool and Machining in Rockford. Richard was an avid fisherman and loved fishing for Walley in Lake Erie. He was a HUGE Chicago Bears Fan, and he made his own shrine at home. He is loved and will be missed by his beloved wife, Joan Anderson, son, Corey E. Anderson; grandchildren, Carter Ellis Anderson, Chloe Nelson, Evelyn Nelson; sister, Nancy (Greg) Witherell; sister-in-law, Jean Vaupel; best friends Kenny and Vicky Tremaine; beloved dog, Goyin.
