Richard Douthat Obituary

Richard “Dick” Darrell Douthat, 81, of Belvidere, IL passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 7, 1940 in Mohawk, TN to the late Willie J. “Boat” and Ruby (Walton) Douthat. His family moved to Belvidere, IL in 1954. Richard married the love of his life, Carolyn Morris on July 25, 1964. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in July. He worked many years at International Ingredient Corporation in Belvidere, IL before they moved the facility to St. Louis. He then went on to retire from J&M Plating in Rockford, IL. Richard loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. He enjoyed going on camping trips, fishing, and loved putting up all his Christmas decorations. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Richard is loved and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Carolyn; daughters, Laura (Sean Davenport) Klinefelter, Vickie (Jason) Popham; grandchildren, Ashley (Joseph Mejia) Douthat, Cody (Lexi) Klinefelter, Nate (Clairissa) Klinefelter, Ayla Douthat, Taelor & Jaden Davenport, Josh & Jared Popham; great grandchildren, Carter Mejia, Emery Gamez, Josh Jr. Popham, Cole Klinefelter & Charlotte Klinefelter; sisters, Glenna Parks, Margie (John) Slater; brother, Bill Douthat; numerous brother in laws, sister in laws, nieces, and nephews. many extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Sam, Reece, and J.P.. There will be a visitation Friday, November 26, 2021 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at the Belvidere Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Belvidere, IL. A service will begin at 2:30 P.M. A special thanks to OSF Hospice, special nurse Karrie, J&M Plating, and Roland Burns. Fellowship to follow the service at the Belvidere VFW.
