Robert W Carts, 85, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 in the Villages of Florida. The son of Leslie and Martha Carts, Robert was born in Wilkinsburg, PA on June 23, 1935 where he spent his younger years and graduated from Swissvale High School. He attended school in Pittsburgh, PA, and had 2 years credit with the University of Maryland. An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, spending 3.5 years in Japan. He played baseball and Fastpitch Softball while in the Service. When Bob left the Army, he spent his career in sales, selling Fuller Brush when he first came to Rockford. He then became a salesperson and then sales manager at Swede Clark Automobile Sales in Loves Park, IL. Selling General aviation airplanes at Beloit Airport and finally opened his own car lot, Belvidere Used Car Center. One of his favorite loves was flying. He became a pilot in 1958 accumulating around 3000 hours flying time for both business and pleasure. Robert was a basketball referee in the Northern Illinois area and umpired many softball games in the Villages of Florida. He had a love for Elvis’s music. Bob loved his dachshunds and often would talk how he loved flying in his plane to Florida and the dogs would fly along with him. Bob is survived by his dachshund Honey Bun, cousins Rose, Lisa, and Matthew of St Petersburg Fl and close friends Jan and George of Rockford, IL, many friends in Florida. Preceded by his dogs, Snuggles, Ginger, Cheeto and Romeo. There will be a graveside service at 9:00 A.M. Saturday, August 1, 2020 in Arlington Cemetery in Rockford, IL.
