Tony Gerard Ziegelbauer, 66, of Belvidere, IL, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 1, 1958, in Belvidere, IL. He was the son of Roman and Lily Mae "Sally" (Hess) Heisler. Tony married the love of his life, Vicki L. Albrecht on November 17, 1979, at St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere. He was extremely proud to have owned his own semi and many of his cherished memories were driving semi long-distance, often with family in the passenger seat. His ironclad work ethic was a prominent part of his relationships with others. He was always present to help family, and he took pride in his labor with his final employer, Rockford Cement Products. Tony was an inimitable family man, exemplified by his eagerness to be a part of the lives of his wife and children. He became heavily involved in Cub Scouts and served as a Cub Scout leader in Pack 141. Tony was the first port of call anytime friends or family needed help with home repairs or snow plowing and he showed his love by being ever ready to assist. While he procrastinated on participating with Family Game Night, he loved few things more than spending free time on a lake in Wisconsin "fishing" (in truth, setting worms and teaching his grandchildren how to fish while his own pole stood idly by). Long story short, as he was want to say 5 minutes into a 50 minute story, Tony is loved and his memory will be cherished by his beloved wife of 45 years, Vicki L. Ziegelbauer; children, Ryan A. (Amylin) Ziegelbauer, and Alyssa L. (Cody Wolf) Ziegelbauer; mother, Sally Heisler; grandchildren, Aviana L. Cortes, Lily Wolf, Jake Wolf; sisters, Barb Ziegelbauer, Marcy Ziegelbauer, Rita Ziegelbauer; sister-in-law, Kim Ziegelbauer; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Roman Ziegelbauer, stepfather, Jack W. Heisler; brother, Jim Ziegelbauer. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Swanhills Golf Course, 2600 Gustafson Road, Belvidere, IL 61008. A memorial fund has been established in the family’s name. Condolences may be shared with his family at www.belviderefh.com.
