Vernon Keith

Vernon Carl Keith, 94, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL. He was born on December 6, 1927 in Winona, MN to the late Horace and Leanor (Biglow) Keith. Vernon served his country in The United States Navy during World War II on The USS Pugent Sound and The USS Antietam. He married the love of his life, Betty M. Ackerman on January 20, 1951 in Winona, MN. Vernon was employed with Warner Swaysey Co. in Winona, MN until 1968. They moved to Illinois and he worked for Barber Coleman in Loves Park, IL until 1986 and Devlieg in Belvidere, IL until he retired in 1992. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Belvidere, IL. Vernon is loved and will be deeply missed by his children, Kathy (Ronald) Blodgett, Terry (Rose) Keith, Robert (Christina) Keith, Michael Keith; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Leanor; beloved wife, Betty; son, James Keith; sister, Mary Ellen Jones; brother, Charles Keith. There will be a funeral service on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service beginning at 11:00 A.M. A visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will take place at Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere, IL. Memorials can be made to Vets Roll in Vernon’s name.
