William R. Bailey, 76, of Belvidere, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at his home. He was born on Friday, June 29, 1945, in Rockford, IL, to the late Herbert F. and Marion L. (Ritchie) Bailey. Bill was a lifelong resident of Belvidere. He graduated from Belvidere High School with the class of 1963. Bill served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He then attended Western Illinois University and went on to graduate from Worsham College of Mortuary Science. Bill was a Funeral Director/Owner at Belvidere Funeral Home and served families in his community for many years. Bill was also Chief Deputy Coroner of Boone County for 10 years. He was very active in Belvidere as a member of many Civic, Fraternal, and Service Organizations including IOU Club, Sister Cities Association, Belvidere Lodge #60 A.F & A.M., Tebala Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters, Board of the Belvidere Cemetery Association, and many others. Bill was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Bill is loved and will be deeply missed by his special cousins, Nancy Warden, Linda Voss, and many great friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Marion. There will be a visitation on Friday, October 29, 2021, from 4:00 P.M.- 7:00 P.M. at Belvidere Funeral Home. Masonic Rites will begin at 7:00 P.M. There will be a funeral service at Belvidere Funeral Home on Saturday, October 30, 2021, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment will take place in Belvidere Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
