William G. Pollock,79,formerly of Belvidere passed away at his home in Sundance,
Wyoming , Saturday July 6, 2013. He was born June 17, 1934 in Marengo, Illinois the son of William John and Ruby (Buhrows) Pollock. He graduated from Marengo High School . He served in the U.S. Navy in Korea during the Korean conflict. After serving his time in the Navy he graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in teaching. In 1973 he married his wife of 24years Beverly Johnson who preceded him in death in 1997. In 1999 he married Anita (Nickie) Jones in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bill worked as project manager for Ragnor-Benson Construction Co. until retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Fox Valley Laborers Local #582, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, and the NRA. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion, he was 33rd degree Mason and a member of the Belvidere Masonic Lodge and Tebala Shrine and the Freeport Consistory, as well as the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife Nickie Pollock, daughters Kim (Randy) Keegan, Michele (Chris) Brand, Jeannie (Ron) Stefanik, Julie McCoy , sons John and Mindy Solem, Mark (Nancy) Pollock, grandchildren Cortney (Shannon) Schrader, Andrew Brand, Sirianna Brand, great-grandchildren Bryce Schrader, Braydon Schrader, Bryar Schrader, Addison Solem, and Jennifer and Ryan Brand. Brothers Norman (Dixie) Pollock, Bradley Pollock, Bill (Judy) Weiss, one sister June Lockhart and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Beverly, a son Greg Pollock, and sister Virginia Pollock.
Funeral service Saturday July 13, 2013 at 10:30am in Belvidere Funeral Home with the Reverend Karl Otto officiating . Interment Belvidere Cemetery. Visitation on Friday at the funeral home from 5pm-8pm. Masonic Rites will be held at the visitation. Memorials may be made to the family.
